The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA Awards 2009), was held in Macau in Malaysia this year at the exotic Venetian Hotel that is a lavish resort developed to look like Venice with its waterways etc. It has the largest casino in the world. This venue was far from its 2008 venue of Bangkok.
" Jodhaa Akbar " swept the IIFA awards 2009 with a perfect 10. This also happens to be the 10th IIFA awards ceremony. " Lagaan " was declared the best movie of the decade. Rajesh Khanna was given the lifetime achievement award, Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai were respectively declared the male and female actors of the decade, Rakesh Roshan was named director of the decade and double Oscar-winning A.R. Rahman was honoured with the composer of the decade award.
